New Delhi: Italian luxury carmaker Automobili Lamborghini will not benefit from the proposed India-EU Free Trade Agreement as the deal currently excludes plug-in hybrid vehicles, its Chairman and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said.

Calling the agreement a “mixed bag,” Winkelmann noted that while tariff reductions for internal combustion engine vehicles are a positive step, Lamborghini’s entire lineup now consists of plug-in hybrids, leaving the company outside its scope. “This is a pity,” he said, expressing hope that hybrids and electric vehicles may be included in the future.

Lamborghini sells models such as the Urus SE, Temerario and Revuelto in India, priced between Rs 4.47 crore and Rs 8.70 crore (ex-showroom). The company crossed the 100-units-per-year milestone in India and expects stable growth going forward.

Winkelmann highlighted strong long-term potential in India, driven by a generational shift among buyers and increasing openness to luxury performance cars. Improving infrastructure and policy stability are also supporting demand.

However, he stressed that Lamborghini will not push volumes aggressively. “We will use every opportunity to grow, but not overperform one year and drop the next,” he said, adding that future milestones of 150 or 200 annual units will depend on market maturity. Globally, Lamborghini delivered 10,747 cars in 2025, marking its third consecutive year above the 10,000-unit mark.
